A grinder is a portable power tool that is held in your hand. This tool drives a motor that in return spins a wheel on the end of the tool. The wheel can be anywhere from 4″ to 9″. The motor that is doing the work will be anywhere from 4 amps to 15 amps. The more the amps, the greater the power and the less the tool will slow down. The wheel will spin anywhere from 4000 revolutions per minute or RPM to 1100 RPM.
Some of the grinders will have variable speed, depending upon which brand you buy. If you are using a variable speed, low speeds are better for polishing, while higher speeds are better for grinding and cutting.
