  1. With 2016 coming to an end, I would like to take this time to acknowledge all the new members that joined our tool enthusiast forum we all know as TIA this year including some second generation Tool guru's, Some of our members were blessed in receiving children, some as new parents and some with new additions to their growing family. Give them a special welcome for being part of a drama free community. As the latest appointed Moderator of the forums I would like to mention that this is an honor, Moderator is a strong name for my new position on the site as it is more focused on the inner workings of the site than actual moderation. Our community is growing each and everyday, the amount of knowledge is growing, the amount of giveaways, the amount of new tool information, the amount of members, everything about TIA is getting Bigger Better Smarter. I would also like to thank Eric and Dan for yet another year of exciting news on tools from all kinds of companies for providing a place on the internet that we all can meet up and talk about our own experiences with new tools we acquire or share stories of tools we have had for years whether it be at home or at our work place. I would also like to thank each and everyone for their contributions to the forum we all have learned mountain high volumes of knowledge with this shared information. So with only hours left of 2016 I would like to take this moment to hope everyone has a Bigger Better Smarter 2017.....

  3. So for those that haven't heard(which is hard because I've been non-stop talking about him), my dog passed away on Tuesday. I've taken it really hard, I haven't been without a dog since I was like 6 years old and that was only a couple months since my dog "Went to live on a farm". I've literally had maybe three months of my life without a dog. Well today I went to the shelter and this guy put a little bit of tape on my broken heart. He's 8 months old, a hound dog mix, we think he was one of the "flood dogs" from LA. Very loving, quite energetic but he listens and aims to please. He seems really intelligent and is quite inquisitive so I named him Sagan. Here he is:

  4. Yesterday I woke up to a positive pregnancy test on my night stand - I was floored because I'm 43 and my kids are 15-17-20 - a couple months ago business was doing great and I said to my wife what's the one thing you want that you don't have and she said a 4th baby - how could I say no - this girl has been by my side for 26 yrs since high school and has been an amazing wife and even more amazing mother so today I can honestly say I'm super happy for her.

  14. I wanted to make a couple chairs for the outdoor firepit and I did not want to spend any money. This is my first one. I went with an Adirondack styled chair. You may notice the free floating armrests. I wanted to use the stud pieces of the pallets for armrests and they weren't quite long enough. What I ended up doing was use a few metal brackets I had to secure them to the front posts. This could have turned out a lot better but I didn't want to spend much time on it. Dollar wise, I am just out the cost of screws and metal brackets, which I already had.

  17. Good Day Crew! Just want to say FUCK YOU 2016!!! What started out has an AWESOME 2016, gaining the love of the #tiacrew, and being voted has member of the month, and receiving an awesome DeWalt 20v nailer, was an incredible experance. My Grandson moving back to our town, getting to make all kinds of toys in my workshop, and watching his huge smiles, has he plays with them and him saying “Thank You Pappy” Being able to add an awesome Laguna 14|12 Bandsaw to the WigWag Workshop, and various other DeWalt tools, to aid in my woodworking. Gained a ton of inspiration from the crew, with all your project posts. The many Tools In Action videos, that provided endless laughs, and enjoyment, Dan and Eric have unique personalities that work so well together. Then, the endless sadness, losing family members, I first lost my Uncle, then my sister in law. Then, when Sabrena lost her mother, that hit us really hard, has she was the kids only Grandparent they knew, and Sabrena was really close to her. Although, I am blessed to have a job and a income, a lot of changes for the worst, has been going on, the last 6 months of the year. What was an awesome, and enjoyable work environment, the recent changes in management, this is no longer the case. And to top is off, I lost my Father, this has hit me really hard, and it took a lot of strength to keep going. Finally, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU, to the crew, for coming together to help me out during my tough times, especially putting up some tools for auction to help me pay some loans I needed to take out, so I could get back home for my fathers funeral. So here is a cheers to the crew, and hopefully a brighter 2017! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! -Steven

  20. Yea baby! The zyklop love continues, screaming deal on eBay for only 45 bucks for the 1/2", took advantage of the fuel sale on Amazon for 65, I will be converting this to a 1/4" impact wrench, why 1/4" and not 3/8" ?? I want it for smaller stuff maybe I should do both [emoji848][emoji848][emoji848] Proto stuff is cool they are ratcheting adapters for sockets for use with combo wrenches or even a da da da a plier wrench, they were cool couldn't pass on them even though they're tawainese Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. so I'm motoring around in the shop and most of my shop has concrete for floors, and bam I drop my cell phone.......of course it hits the floor in the corner and cracks the screen. I'm about 2.5 months away from an upgrade and don't want to spend money on putting a new screen on it. got price of $129 . what to do what to do ......the touch screen feature is deemed useless can't do a thing but the cracks are really fine but are still there it is broken. then I think I got nothing to lose, I grab a bottle of crazy glue, I spread it over the area where the cracks are wait about 5 seconds and took a razar blade and scraped off the extra glue so it was smooth. I had phone shut off so I left it off until glue seemed to completely dry.......I turn on phone and bingo cracks are harder to see and touch screen feature is resumed...........may not work for everyone but if it works like this until upgrade time I'll be happy

  31. Ended up returning the Ridgid Oscillating Edge/Belt Spindle Sander that I was given for Christmas. While I do really want one eventually, I decided to grab a toy that would get more use right now. Finally got tired of waiting for DeWalt's new brad nailer and pulled the trigger on a Senco. If I end up not liking it, I'll probably just try to return/sell it and wait for the DeWalt again. I'm HOPING that's not the case. The bag that this thing came with is pretty sweet. Usually I prefer the hard cases because my bags tend to get messy and full of a bunch of junk, but this one has little sections on the inside (outside as well) to hold the charger and battery, and it has plenty of room for nails and what not. Excited to put it through the paces!

  35. Here is the other stuff I got from works party. There nothing fancy but they were free. They raffled off some Proto ratcheting wrenches but I didn't win those. From my parents for Christmas I got a few clothes an mainly a gift card. It will be going towards some general supplies. Need a few metal cutting blades for my chop saw. Plan on a whole saw set as well. I gotta pick up some wood to make shelves as well. Might get some knipex pliers but who knows. My girlfriend got me a gift card along with a picture an frame. A few few other people I know got me HD gift cards.

  38. So last Thursday I went to pickup all the stuff from the auction. I ended up getting there and they had stuff that wasn't sold. I asked about tables, they had some and they came with top shelves. I negotiated them down to $40 a piece on eight. What I ended up getting (on top of the six tables I originally bought) was NINE maple top, steel frame tables(5' X 3'), 13 top shelves and 8 power strips for $320! Power strips look like: I've only set up one of the tables(I plan on selling a lot of them), this is my electronics/its-too-hot-in-the-garage bench: The chairs we bought were super nice too and all the test equipment works. One of my oscilloscopes didn't work but I fixed it on Friday. All of the test equipment other than the power supply is still at the shop.

  39. These: A little out of focus, apparently, but you can see what they are. Also these, which were not handy for the picture: All this is in the course of a classic "more trouble than it's worth" project, in which I install a pocket door on a walk-in closet without disturbing the drywall on the room side: The builder's drywall hangers were conscientious enough to glue each sheet in place, which caused me problems taking those studs out; and the mud and tape guys floated the corners out so far that my replacement rock was probably 1/8" lower than the cut pieces, requiring me to float out a lot too. But I did get the studs out without having to break them up, in reusable condition after a quick pass through the table saw to clear off the construction adhesive. One is now a jack stud and the other's part of the new header. There is another jack stud on the far end of that header, but it and the header are only 2" wide at that point due to the electrical box, so I doubled up a pair of jack studs at the end of the slider. Experts in building codes can probably tell what region I live in from the second and third construction shot.

  42. Congrats on the new friend. We have 5 dogs. We live in the country so we have 3 outside dogs, but 2 in the house. My baby is a 7 year old Yorkie named Mia. Most loving animal I have ever seen. The dog is my shadow. When I mow, she rides with me the whole time. If I don't let her on, she'll follow behind the WHOLE time and piss in my garage for spite......Typical female

  43. I made this toy box for my nephew for Christmas completely out of pallets except the plywood lining the interior. Rough measurements are 40L 18D and 20H. He was pretty pleased on Christmas day. All of the metal fasteners are hidden from view. I used dows on the top frame for extra strength. Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk

  44. I just want to thank everyone on here, you guys have been a good distraction. Some of you already know that my little beagle passed away yesterday. He's been with me since a few months before my Dad passed away. He's been there for all the rough times and all them girls that have come and gone. He was like my child, I'm taking it rather hard. I had a lot of trouble going to sleep without him by my bed last night. You guys have been my first real distraction that make me feel a little more normal. Thanks for the love on Instagram, he was a really good dog, truly this man's best friend.

  45. I got a bunch of new hand tools in today. Mayhew PMG03 magnetic pickup tool. It can lift 3lbs which is more than I will ever need it for. TEKZ 42PC Screwdriver set. Not the greatest set in the world but cheap. Titan Extra Large key sets. SAE & Metric Hex and Tamper Resistant Torx. Gearwrench 81020 43 Pc. 1/4" Drive Multi-Function Ratchet Set Gearwrench 81004 4 Piece 1/4-Inch Drive Wobble Extension Set Gearwrench 82118 3 Pc. Push Button Tongue and Groove Plier Set VIM RLR4R 1/4" Square Drive Roto-Lock Ratchet. It converts from a straight handle to t-handle. VIM PWR1 1/4" Square Drive Palm Wobble Ratchet VIM NSM100XL 6" Extra Long Metric Nut Setter Set. I need to pickup the SAE set. VIM HBR4 Close Quarters 1/4" Hex Bit Ratchet with Handle VIM HBR12 1/4 Drive Ratcheting Bit Ratchet, 12-Inch. This one is a little nicer than the Gearwrench that came in the set above. One end of this is a flex head the other end is not. The Gearwrench has a flex head on both ends. VIM FR100 5 Piece Finger Ratchet Set and the best thing. a Milwaukee AX with Carbide Teeth and a t-shirt that I won from Coptool on Instagram. Unfortunately they just sent whatever size shirt they had and it's too small for me so my mom is getting it.

  48. The kids hooked me up with the complete series of The Sopranos on Blu-Ray. Mrs. Conductor stayed true to form and got me the 7 Piece Hammer & Dolly set from Eastwood I was eyeing. It's a big step for her to order tools for me without my verifying it's the right thing, but she did good. She also got me the Key to Metal Bumping, the definitive start up guide for decades. These are not Martin quality tools, but for what I do, I don't need Martin quality nor could a Martin price be justified. There is undoubtedly more to come 😃
