Hilti is located in Principality of Liechtenstein and was founded in 1941. Like many companies it was started as a small family business. Today the Hilti family trust still holds the majority of the shares.

In 1948 Hilti started its product line with the launching of a powder actuated fastening system. Hilti started production in America in 1979 in Minneapolis. In the 80’s Hilti entered the diamond coring market and the construction chemical market. Hilti tools are designed for professional work on the job site. They are designed to be professional grade. Hilti’s power tools are not normally for the home user’s needs in most instances.
