Ego Snow Blower Review – 56V Power

Winter is right around the corner which means we have to start thinking about snow.  In the past, I was the guy who never wanted a snow blower.  For me, I loved shoveling.  I felt like I was getting a little exercise and just loved the peace and quiet outside when it was snowing.  A gas engine always took away the peace and quiet.  About two years ago, we tested the Greenworks and Snow Joe snow blowers.  While I would give up my exercise, I would still get the peace and quiet with the battery powered snow blowers.  While we...

Mantis Snow Shovel

Now that winter is almost over, I figured it would be a great time to tell you about the Mantis 8112 Snow Shovel.   Actually I live in the Chicago area and this year the snow has been below average.  We have had one good ice storm, then about a 2″ snow fall.  While most people think that is a good winter and not having snow, I have two kids and have to say we have all been disappointed.  When Dan first told me that we were going to test out a new snow shovel, I couldn’t wrap my...

Snow Joe Snow Blower

If you would have asked me a year ago if I would use a battery powered lawnmower, I would have said “heck no”.  Then I tried the Ego and my mind was changed.  Ask me two months ago if I would ever use a battery powered snow blower and I still would answer “No”.  However after using the Snow Joe, my mind was changed once again.  Now to be honest when I first heard about the Snow Joe, I can’t saw I was really excited.  For me it was a battery powered snow blower from a company I had...

Greenworks 40V Cordless Snowblower

Greenworks has made a pretty good name for itself in the US market. There are many advantages to a cordless electric snow blower.  Emissions, sound and ease of use to name a few. For our tests we went through about 8 inches of wet melting packed snow.  8 inches is the recommended maximum for this unit. To our surprise the unit worked its way through to clear a path.  For light snow on most small properties this is a great choice. The unit will get up to 45 minutes of run-time, in our test we got roughly 30-35 minutes though...

Troy-Bilt 2490 3 Stage Vortex Snow Thrower – Review

Last year in Chicago we got hammered with snow, it was insane.  So this year I tried to be proactive and get a snow blower before the season started.  Well we had absolutely no snow until February 1st when we got 19 inches. It turned out to be the third biggest snow storm Chicago has ever seen. Luckily we had the new Troy-Bilt Vortex 2490 to tackle this massive storm.  Snow blowers come in all shapes and sizes and you really need to choose one that fits your needs.  For a small walkway with light snow storms this is...
