Gyros Guard Safety Shield Model 50-12510 – Review

Tools come in all shapes and sizes, just because a tool is small does not mean that it can’t do some serious damage if it fails. Would you operate a circular saw without a guard? Of course not,  so why operate a rotary tool without a guard ,20,oo0 rpm spinning a tiny cutting blade can do some damage. Rotary tools have been around for years and a lot of injuries happen with this small common tool. Gyros is a company that has been around since 1921 they are an industry leader in Miniature Precision Tools and Accessories. I use their blades religiously because I like the quality, they are made in the USA and fit every other rotary tool that I own.

I frequently use my rotary tool for cutting and need protection from sparks and debris. We picked up a Gyros Guard Safety Shield Model 50-12510. The unit itself is made out of impact resistant Lexan. Eric decided he want to try and shatter it, to his amazement even with multiple hard blows with a hammer the shield did not shatter. The shield fits most rotary tools and just screws on and off, its that easy. In our tests, the shield contained all the sparks and debris and easily adjusted to our work via the spring loaded thumb tab and opens up to 180 degrees and can provide up to 360 degrees of protection when closed. I like when the shield is closed because it wraps around the bit so you don’t get cut from it when not in use. The shield also comes with a free cutting wheel which is a bonus. After using this product I am sold that it protects you from harm. I could not fathom ever using my rotary to cut without one again. ALWAYS USE SAFTEY GLASSES WITH ANY ROTARY TOOL.
