You can never have too much light when working and a good work light is great to have around. Yes we know a light is a rather boring review, after all isn’t a light a light? Well true, but you do have incandescent lights and LED lights. Even LED lights are different and use different LEDs. Since we have been reviewing the i-drill, let’s take a look at the i-drill LED Torch. The model number is i-LED.
The torch light is a LED light that uses 24 white LED lights and is powered by a 12v Sanyo Lithium-ion battery. Why any light in a dark space is good, we found the torch light to produce a nice white light that has a wide beam. The light is more than ample to light up any dark work space.
We found the light to sit nice if laid flat on its side. The pivoting head makes it very easy to direct the light in any direction. Because of the torpedo battery design, which most 12v have, it doesn’t always stand in the upright position. Yes it does stand but usually the surface has to be flat. This is not really a knock against the torch, it’s just the way some 12vs are and we tend to like the pancake style battery design for stability.
The torch light is sold separately and does not come with a battery, so be prepared to buy an extra battery or use a battery from one of your other i-drill tools. The 2i is the only tool that comes with two batteries, so if you own one of the other tools and do not have an extra battery be prepared to use either the tool or light, but not both.
