Milwaukee introduced their new Fork Meter.  They have two models, the 2206-20 and the 2205-20.  The main difference between the two is the 2206-20 measures temperature.  Now we haven’t tested this tool, but it looks pretty cool for the professional.  Basically this is 5 tools in 1.

  1. Current Measurement
  2. Temperature Measurement
  3. Voltage Measurement
  4. Volt Detection
  5. Task Lighting

This meter is powered by two AA batteries and by the looks of it, there is a nice rubber molding making it easier to hold on to this meter.  The meter uses a dial switch which lets the user pick the correct setting for the measurement.  The meter uses, what appears to be, a large display with white on black.

In terms of actual measuring, this meter has a wide range for each type of measurement.

  • Volt Range – 1000V AC/DC
  • Temperature Range – -40°F to 752°F
  • Ohms – 600.0 Ohm – 40.00M Ohm
  • Amps – 200

This meter has a lot of options and we can go on and on, but it might just be easier to bullet point them.

  • TRMS – Yes
  • K-Type Thermocouple Input – Yes
  • Continuity – Yes
  • Capacitance – Yes
  • Back-light – Yes
  • Hold – Yes
  • Non-Contact Voltage – Yes

The overall fork opening is not too bad at .63″.  The meter does not have an auto calibration and Milwaukee recommends sending it once a year.  The overall length is 8″ and it looks like this is selling for about $160.
