Question to all. Why would I want a sliding compound saw say over a regular compound saw. Also is there one brand and model you folks prefere over the other. Any help would be appreciated

A sliding miter saw will allow a user to cut thicker lumber because it slides and thats the main reason. Any manufacture is good, but i would stay with a brand name. Go to Home Depot and see what you like the best. Personally I like the Craftsman where I have a good buddy who loves the Makita. I think it is a matter of choice.

Question to whom it may concern.
I am a Japanese carpenter and recently purchaed SF4000-A from e-bay, but
dont understand why it features Variable Speed Control Switch.
Can someone please teach me how I am supposed to use this feature?
In addition: Most of Japanese cordless screw drivers dont have varable speed control switch.

I have never used that model. Yeah your right, I don’t see many with a variable speed control switch, usually it’s just the trigger. The only thing I can think of is to dial in on a specific type of material you are using it on. I am going to ask a couple of buddies and see what they come up with, I am sure they have used it
